LiPo Battery Tester & Low-Voltage Alarm, 1 to 8 Cells
LiPo Battery Tester & Low-Voltage Alarm, 1 to 8 Cells
The LiPo Battery Tester and Low-Voltage alarm is a useful device for monitoring the voltage and balance of Li-Po, HV-LiPo, Li-Ion, or Li-Fe type battery packs from 1 to 8 cells, as well as notifying the user if the battery discharges below a certain threshold during use. It can be used as a stand-alone battery tester to check the total pack voltage and individual cell voltage prior to a flight. It can also be left plugged into the balance connector of the battery during a flight to monitor the voltage of the pack as it discharges. When the battery reaches the preset the preset Low Voltage Threshold, a loud alarm will sound to let you know that it is time to land.
Device Features
- Use on 1 to 8 cell Batteries
- Accurate to within +/- 0.01 Volts
- Will measure cells up to 4.50 Volts
- Will measure total pack voltage up to 36 volts
- Low Voltage Warning Mode available from 2 to 8 cell packs
- Low Voltage Threshold settable to 2.7 to 3.8 Volts per cell with pushbutton
When the LVA is plugged into the balance connector of a battery it will first beep and then display the number of cells in the pack. After that is will display "ALL" and then show the total voltage of the pack. After that it will begin cycling through all of the cells in order showing "No1" then display the cell #1 voltage and then show "No2" followed by the cell #2 voltage and so on until it goes through all the cells. At that point it will start over showing "ALL" then the total pack voltage and keep cycling through all the cells until the device is unplugged.
If the LVA device is left plugged into the battery during a flight, whenever the voltage of any cell in the pack drops below the preset threshold level, the alarm will sound. To set the Low Voltage Threshold level, you simply press the small butten located between the two beepers at any time when teh device is plugged in to the battery. The voltage set level will be displayed each time you push the button. It will start at whatever the current value is set for and then cycle through all the options available which include 2.70, 2.80, 2.90, 3.00, 3.10, 3.20, 3.30, 3.40, 3.50, 3.60, 3.70 and 3.80 volts. After you get to 3.80 volts it will display "OFF" if you want to turn the Low Voltage Alarm feature off. After you get to the voltage level you want to set the device to, simply wait for 2 seconds and that value will be stored in memory and the device will start the cell voltage counting cycle once again.
